Frequently Asked Questions
How are payments made to Mentors?Every quarter, we make deposits directly into a Mentor's and/or Connector's PayPal account for 10% of all the purchases that happen and were collected from their players in the previous quarter. You need to set up a PayPal account if you don't have one. It's free and easy. Go to https://www.paypal.com. The 10%-for-life payments are cash for you to use anyway you want in your life. If you earn more than $600 in a year, at the end of that year we provide a 1099 online which you can download for your U.S. taxes. You must be 18 years old or have your parent's written permission on file. International Mentors can get an end of year report to use for tax purposes. All Mentors are responsible individually for reporting income properly to government authorities. You are an independent contractor, not an employee or agent of Decipher. What about shipping cost? Will I have to pay a fortune if I live overseas? We value every player equally in Fight Klub™ and we thought about this for a long time. We decided that everyone in the world should pay the same shipping regardless of the actual expense for Decipher. Thus, the shipping cost of a Kilo is $4.95 regardless of where you live. (Multiple Kilo shipping prices will also be available for everyone equally.) When you are into the Fight Klub™ universe, you are on the same playing field as all other players. The shipping companies (UPS Mail Innovations and USPS) tell us that U.S. orders will arrive in 2-5 days, and most international orders will arrive in 5-10 days. All shipments will have electronic notification built-in and all U.S. shipments will have tracking. Because both of these shipping services make the final delivery via the postal service of the host country, deliveries can happen on Saturdays and without someone having to be home to sign for delivery. Will there be an online/digital version of the game?Perhaps. Most of our licensing covers this possibility, but we do not plan to introduce such a product in the first year or so of Fight Klub™. What keeps a player from creating an account and locking me out of the 10%?Such a player would lose his/her ranking, handle, the use of their credit card number, the 10% of all the players that individual has Mentored, and their name and shipping address would be blocked. When we discover a player cheating, they will be barred for life, as would any player purchasing for them. The integrity of Mentors is of great importance to everyone in the community. Also, we have created software to detect looping... where two, three or more players get together in a covert manner to create a circular relationship so they each get 10% from one of the other players in the loop. We also have secret tools to detect abuse. Such players would be barred from all Fight Klub™ activities. Covert activities don't go unnoticed in the community either, and players caught would never be able to purchase cards again or be a Mentor again. As such, the community also monitors people's activities, and when reported, we take the matters seriously. Finally, if you are a bad Mentor, we have a method for players to confidentially ask to opt out of your Mentorship. If enough of your players ask to do so, we will allow them to switch Mentors and you will lose the privilege of supporting them as well as the reward. While such things are part of life, in our experience with Star Trek, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, and more, 99.9% of volunteers care more about their players than themselves. It's one of the things that makes our communities so special. We are looking for exactly these kinds of individuals to be the foundation of Mentors for Fight Klub™. Limited edition? The first run of all expansion sets will be limited edition, black border cards with an icon in the collector section of the card. Reprints, if any, will also be black border (just without the icon) so whenever a new player comes into the game, they won't feel like they start as a second class citizen with white-border cards. How will new players get access to the gameplay on old cards? The first expansion set, "One," will always be available. After the game has been out for about a year, we plan to offer a reprint feature for other expansions sets. If you want an old expansion set, you will be able to order it and monitor how many other players have done so. Once there are enough players who desire a given set, the set will be locked, credit cards will be charged, and black border versions of the old cards will be printed without the collector icon. Thus, players always control when reprints happen based on orders (excepting any licensing restrictions from Licensors). If you placed an order for a reprint, and for any reason you no longer want those cards, you can cancel your order at any time (up to the point where the reprint quantity is reached). A live counter will indicate the status of Kilos ordered. Once the cards go into production, the countdown for that particular expansion set is immediately reset to zero, so the process starts all over again. What this means is that old gameplay can always be made available, licensing permitting, if enough players want the product. This puts reprints in the control of players. |
